I consider myself primarily a social psychologist who takes great interest in related subdisciplines, like cognitive, personality and legal psychology.

My stronghold is in implicit social cognitive methods that I have explored (Blaison, Imhoff et al., 2012; Imhoff et al., 2010; Imhoff, Schmidt et al., 2011; Imhoff, Schmidt et al., 2012) and employed in fields like prejudice (Imhoff & Banse, 2009; Imhoff & Recker, 2012), self-concept (Dislich, Imhoff et al., 2012; Gerstenberg, Imhoff, et al., 2012; Gerstenberg, Imhoff et al., 2013), romantic relations (Banse & Imhoff, 2013; Banse, Imhoff, et al., 2012; Imhoff & Banse, 2011) and sexual interest (Imhoff et al., 2010; Imhoff, Schmidt et al., 2011; Imhoff, Schmidt et al., 2012), including forensically relevant deviant interest (Schmidt, Banse, & Imhoff, 2013). Recently, I have developed a great interest in data-driven alternatives to top-down inspired research that provide the opportunity to stretch out participants mental maps in a data-driven way, rather than testing my subjective a priori assumptions (e.g., Imhoff, Dotsch et al., 2011; Koch, Imhoff et al., 2016).

I also have a great interest in political ideologies and attitudes, as reflected in my work on the impact of historical representations (Imhoff & Banse, 2009; Imhoff, Bilewicz, & Erb, 2012; Imhoff, Wohl, & Erb, 2013) or individual differences in conspiracy mentality (Imhoff & Bruder, 2013).
